Apply for free/reduced price meals and to help your school

Apply for free/reduced price meals and to help your school

Because the US Dept of Agriculture has been providing free meals to all students this year, applications for free and reduced meals declined significantly this year.

There are two concerns related to this drastic drop in applications:

  1. If the program ends unexpectedly, families who could qualify for these meals (but haven’t yet applied) might not get the assistance they need.
  2. Schools receive special funding to support student needs based on the school’s free and reduced meal participation. At the current rate of applications, the special funding for the 2021-22 school year will drop dramatically, having a significant negative impact on services to students.

To apply, log into SmartSchoolK12 to access your child’s lunch account and complete the online application. You may also request a paper copy by calling 763-391-7129.
