Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park schools move to distance learning on Mon., April 12

Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park schools move to distance learning on Mon., April 12

All schools, preK through adult learning, that are located in the cities of Brooklyn Center or Brooklyn Park will move to distance learning today, Monday, April 12. This change applies only to buildings in the cities of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park. All other physical schools will continue in in-person learning; Distance Learning Academy students will continue in distance learning.

We are moving Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park schools to distance learning out of an abundance of caution due to civil unrest that occurred in both cities following a weekend police-involved fatal shooting and the potential for continuing activity today that could affect our ability to deliver children to and from school safely. Kidstop and after-school and evening activities for schools in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park are canceled.

All staff assigned to Brooklyn Center or Brooklyn Park schools will work remotely except for custodians, who will report to their buildings.

Counselors and other support staff will be available virtually to support students who wish to talk with a trusted adult; if your child would benefit from a conversation, please have them tell their teacher.

In-person learning for Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park schools will resume tomorrow unless you receive another communication from the school district.

Thank you for your support.
